About

Alex is a conservative Republican who has served as the State Representative for Missouri’s 134th House District since January 2021. He currently serves as the House Majority Leader and has been elected to be the next Speaker of the House, where he will help set the legislative agenda for the state. As Majority Leader, Alex is responsible for advancing priority legislation and guiding key conservative reforms through the legislative process. Born and raised in Springfield, Alex lives in the Parkcrest neighborhood with his wife and high school sweetheart, Ellen, and their four children—Mitchell, Sophie, Carson, and Jessie.

Alex was raised with a deep respect for faith, family, hard work, and personal responsibility. His father, a registered nurse and former farmer, worked long hours to provide for the family, teaching Alex the dignity of work and the value of self-reliance. His mother, a homemaker and nurse, homeschooled Alex and his siblings from kindergarten through high school. This instilled strong moral values, discipline, and a love of learning. As a young entrepreneur, Alex started his first small business mowing lawns—learning firsthand what it means to earn a paycheck and run a small operation responsibly.

Faith has always been central to Alex’s life. As a youth, he was deeply involved in Royal Rangers, a faith-based leadership program similar to Boy Scouts. He earned the organization’s highest honor, the Gold Medal of Achievement, and was named National Royal Ranger of the Year in 2008—graduating as one of the most decorated Rangers in the program’s history.

Alex’s faith was put to the test at just 17 years old, when he was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He endured months of chemotherapy and radiation before being declared cancer-free shortly before his 18th birthday. That experience strengthened Alex's belief that every life is valuable and that God has a purpose for each of us—even through hardship.

Determined to move forward without burdening himself with unnecessary debt, Alex pursued an efficient and affordable path to higher education. He tested out of a majority of his college courses, worked his way through school, and earned a B.A. in Political Science from Thomas Edison State University at age 19. He graduated with a 4.0 GPA and zero student loan debt—a model he believes government should follow: live within your means, do your absolute best, and plan for the future.

Alex went on to law school at Southern Illinois University School of Law, where he was a strong advocate for free speech, religious liberty, and constitutional principles. He served as Chief Articles Editor of the law journal, published articles defending core freedoms, and provided free legal services to seniors through the Elder Law Clinic. He ultimately graduated fourth in his class, Summa Cum Laude.

After graduating from law school, Alex passed the Missouri Bar Exam and returned home to Springfield to begin his legal career at a small local law firm. Alex is currently an attorney with the Healy Law Offices and has successfully represented individuals and businesses of all shapes and sizes - from Fortune 500 companies to small local businesses - in courtrooms across Missouri. His legal work gives him first hand insight into how government regulation and litigation impact Missouri families and job creators.

Alex and his family attend Connect Church in Springfield. In their free time, they enjoy participating in community events, camping, traveling, exploring the Ozarks countryside, and cheering on the Springfield Cardinals.
